India vs Pak 2nd Test Day IV
1st Innings: India - 407/all out Pak - 393/all out
2nd Innings: India - 407/9 decl. Pak - 95/1 (20 overs)
Dravid did it yet again. A classy century when the team needed it the most. Joining him was the keeper kiddo - Dinesh Karthik. What an innings under pressure?!? Kudos to Karthik. A selfless 93 sprouts the abundant talent this young man possesses. Ganuguly's appaling form continued and displayed his shortcoming of the short balls! Laxman who joined Dravid received a nasty bouncer and had to leave the field with a swollen eye. At 151/4 and Laxman retired hurt, an Indian collapse was imminent. But Dravid and Karthik refused to surrender. Together they took India to a comfort zone. Lower order cameo from Pathan took India past 400 and set a target of 422 for Pakistan.
But hold on - enter Afridi and India stint in the comfort zone was short lived. Afridi came up with a blitz and showed absolutely no mercy on any of the Indian bowlers. He scored a quick fire 50 and got out in the penultimate over of the day trying to sweep a delivery from Kumble. Huge sigh of relief for all Indian fans and the players. This barrage just went on to prove - nothing is really over - till its over! Pakistanis are left with 323 to score of the last day - no team has done it in the past in Eden Gardens. But hey - records are meant to tumble.
Day V Prospects
This test match has been one of the big roller coaster rides. If there is a blitz from another Pakistani batsman, the game is bound to slip away from India's hands. India should look for early wickets if they are to force a vistory. India struggled to pick up 4 wickets in the last test match - so 9 wickets will need twice the effort - are our bowlers upto the challenge - we will have to linger patiently and see...
