India vs Pak 2nd Test Day III
1st Innings: India - 407/all out Pak - 393/all out
2nd Innings: India - 133/3
India fought its way back into the 2nd Test match by taking a slender 14 run lead in the first innings. When dusk was looming over the City of Joy and with Tendulkar and Dravid taking complete control over the proceedings - Buckonor bungled yet again and handed Tendulkar a harsh decision to spoil what would have been a commendable day's play by India. Neverthless Tendulkar fresh from joining the elite 10K club, made a superb 52 studded with 9 boundaries! His shot selection was impeccable and his slow batting display in Mohali is history. Dravid on the other end made a 50 too. It has now become so common for Dravid to get past half century it just goes unnoticed.
Pakistan started the day on a horrible note with Youhana getting out in the 5th over to Balaji. Inzi seemed to bestow trouble for India by settling down and scoring at a steady pace. However Pathan had different ideas and had him caught behind. Inzi's departure triggered a Pakistani collapse. Tendulkar brilliant throw from the long off straight to the keeper resulted in a run out to the saviour of 1st Test - Kamal. India's spinner duo picked up the rest of the wickets to fall.
Day IV Prospects...
The match is evenly poised and can go either way. If India can hold on till the last session with an overall lead of 325+ - they can apply the pressure on Pakistan. Going by the history of the pitch hope Bhajji and Kumble can do the trick. However, if India fumbles, Pakistan will be left with a low total to overcome with plenty of overs! An interesting tussle is on the cards...
