India-Pak 1st Test Day III - Inept Batting Performance by India
India vs Pakistan First Test - Day III -
1st Innings: Pakistan - 312 / all out ; India 447/6 of 131 overs.
What more can you say when 134 runs were scored of the first session (thanks to Sehwag) and only 129 (70 overs) the next 2 sessions (Men in command for the slow run rate - Ganguly, Tendulkar and Laxman). Sehwag continued where he left off on Day II and was eventutally out for a well made quick 173 (9th century). At 318/2, India seemed to be sitting pretty to cross 550 by EOD. After Sehwag's dismissal - India's middle order stood resolute not to score. Yes - Tendulkar had the record breaking 35th 100 in sight - but his slow run rate would have been forgotten had he converted his score of 94 into a century. He was lucky not to have got out when he was only 10. Now, with India having the upper hand earlier - I simply don't understand what Ganguly had in mind to play a typical test innings - 21 of 80 balls! Its a pity that Tendulkar could not get to his century and his 10000. But if India ends up drawing this test - it is solely due to the dry spell of runs when these three were in the middle!!!
Day IV Prospects
It is to be seen if Indian tail can wag a little and get to 560+ to gain a lead of 250. With the weather daring to play a big part in the game - the only way India can force a victory is by making some quick runs and producing a disciplined bowling performance on Day IV and Day V! Go India Go...
