July 4th weekend...

Wanted to have a relaxing and peaceful long weekend and thats precisely what I had! Visited my cousin who lives in Toronto and we went on a rampage tasting different food. Toronto is a nice city and has the usual buzz as NY city. Whatz amazing is the number of parks right in the mid of the city - 18.7 % of Toronto is packed with parks. Toronto is famous for the food as well - supposedly you can get one of the best variety of food in the world out here. July 1st being the Canadian day - there was this famous & traditional Rib Fest. We went and hogged ribs and grilled chicken. Having tasted something that runs and flies (just like how Vivek tells in a movie), went about having something that swims - Lobster, King Crabs, Octopus (such a delicacy), Calamari, Sprout fish and what not! Besides all this did some justice to something I always crave for - Idly/Sambar! Hey all this over a period of 3 days!

Toronto has a huge tamil population (Sri Lankan tamils mainly). So had a chance to hit the theatres to watch tamil movie - Anniyan - I liked it! Songs choreography was a bit of a let down. Killing a person for not stopping for a wounded man is a little too much to accept. Shankar has used the same success formula with suttle difference. Without doubt he is one of the most thorough technical director's in South India. Its such a delight to watch movies directed by Mani, Shankar, Gautam and the likes.

Fishing was another activity we did with no success though. But was a good time pass. The lakes were so scenic...the picture below is the one I took when we went fishing.


Was back in Buffalo for the July 4th Fireworks. Wanted to vist Niagara Falls to watch the fireworks - but the thought of maneuvering in the traffic stopped me from going. The sky just outside my apartment did display some spectacular fireworks...
